James Meade Lectures

James Meade Biennial Lecture was established in 2016 jointly by Christ’s College and the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge. The Lecture honours James Meade, a Noble Prize Laureate in Economics, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Cambridge and Senior Research Fellow at Christ’s College, who was a major contributor to developments in national income accounts and the theory and policy in international economics.

2026 James Meade Lecture will be given by Prof Guido Tabellini, the Intesa Sanpaolo Chair in Political Economics at Bocconi University. Prof Tabellini’s research spans political economics, public choice, macroeconomics, and international economics. It will take place on February 12 at 5:30pm in Yusuf Hamied Theatre at Christ’s College.

The previous James Meade Lecturers are Dani Rodrik (2017), Elhanan Helpman (2019) and Ulrike Malmendier (2024).
